Duet Composition Winner

I am happy to report that my duet, “Frolic–a duet in C” has won the Minnesota Music Teachers Association Duet Composition Contest for 2013-14. The duet is written for Junior-A level students and will be performed at the MMTA Honors Recital in June, 2014.

Hello. Thanks for visiting my website. On this site you can see and hear some of my compositions (see the menu above).

Here’s my bio: I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, playing piano, singing in choirs and performing in plays and musicals. I attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and received my bachelors and masters degrees in music composition. Since 1983 I have lived in Minneapolis, where I continue to compose music and teach piano, composition and theory.

I have had a wide variety of composing experiences, including writing chamber, choral, vocal, electronic, piano and orchestra music, and collaborating with choreographers, writers, and other composers. I am currently writing musical theater works for children with the writer Bing Puddlepot.

Feel free to contact me by using the contact link in the menu above.

And don’t forget to view some of my videos on youtube. Several of my piano pieces are there. Here’s a link to see me play a piece I wrote in early 2013, “Romanze.”
